Has anybody managed to bring a HTC Touch Diamond Pro in from abroad and get teh 3G running and connected? I just looked at Expansys.co.nz and they are selling the ozzie version and will deliver to NZ.

I suspect it would need to be on Vodafone?

Hi there, firstly you need to decide which model you want, there is the Touch Diamond or the Touch Pro  they are diferent! I recent'y got a HTC Touch Pro from the UK and I have no problem connecting on 3G and also HSDPA High Speed on Vodafone. Mine is Quad Band but I think I read somewhere that the Aussie ones are only tri-band but I could be wrong Smile so it would be good to check.

Here is a link to the Vodafone website that says what frequencies they use: http://www.vodafone.co.nz/roaming/set-up-services-support.jsp#expander1 so make sure yours is compatable,

As for purchasing you could also check out: http://www.einfo.co.nz/shop/product_info.php?products_id=10653 as they are in Auckland.

All the best

Frank

I preordered my touch 3g! they keep on pushing the release date back! But yeah it should work as the previous post, as long as the band matches, definitely will work.

zocster - where is you find the Touch 3g??

I was looking around on the HTC site yesterday and found this phone, but couldn't find anywhere selling it.  Am interested to know price/release date etc.

Had mine over a month now - good phone and working fine on Vodafone. Got it from x1387 on Ebay (only person to buy a phone from on Ebay as far as I'm concerned). Quite a bit cheaper than Expansys from memory.

I'd hold off buying one for the mean time though (next several weeks), as the HTC Touch HD and Xperia will both be around (released in the case of the former, available in the case of the latter).

EDIT: Heh, mine is for sale now - just dropped the clams on a Black Xperia by Sony. Let me know if you're interested in purchasing my Touch Pro. It'll come with an 8GB MicroSDHC card, TV-Out cable (purchased separately as doesn't come with the Pro), car charger and 3.5mm adapter - altogether approaching $200 of extras. Price will be competitive.

Around $1330 from memory - still selling for around the same because although the price has dropped a little its been offset by falls in the Kiwi dollar.

yeah the more i look at it the Touch 3G could be gold. i dont really need the kepad and the 5mp camera and with the same cpu as the diamond combined with a lower resolution screen( which is still more than ample for a mobile device) it should be very very responsive....
