Help please !!!! I got an HTC Touch from off Trade Me. (Used) Arrived this am. Unpacked and turned on...all good. Battery very low, charged up for an hour. Put in sim card.... home screen etc comes up and works all ok.......searching for network.... 30 mins later still searching. ??????  Turned off and plugged in charger. Left on desk for 2 hrs..... handset now VERY hot !!! and it won't turn on no matter what I try. Smart Mobility shows on screen and freezes. Any ideas or have I been ripped off.

Thanks

it doesnt necessarily mean that youv been ripped off. sometimes there are issues with the okta and htc touch phones that cant really be explained.

i occassionally have a similar issue. try taking out your battery and letting it cool for a bit. then try again.

Yes, I have tried both the above. It has been sitting over night without the battery in it, so will try again this AM when I get to the office.
Thanks for the advice guys.

Thanks Zocster. Tried the link but inside the mtty.exe link is broken. I believe that Windows Mobile Device Centre may have messed up my rom somehow after reading that forum because thats when I started having problems just after trying to sync for the first time. Anybody know where I can get a new device from in Chch instead of sending to Akl for one. I think that maybe I have cooked it also as when I remove the battery when it gets Very Very hot it smells like burnt electronics.

If it's fried I'm afraid I can't help you and can only be done by MobileFone Repair unfortunately, I don't have the gear nor knowledge of the touch.
