eh? My BT works fine with A2DP and a BlueAnt headset. Didn't need to set up any outgoing port option etc, ... are you using a shipped ROM?

Edit: further info would enhance the ability for people to help you! So tell us what ROM you're running and what are you trying to pair with!

thanks for your repy. i did have it working for sometime. at initial setup it had 2 options. This is found in bluetooth options, tab "com ports", 1st option is "new incoming port" and 2nd option is "new outgoing port". the instrcutions stated 1. "to connect to a device, tap new outgoing port". 2. "to allow other devices to connect, tap new incoming port. 3. "for other devices, tap and hold an existing port".
i am trying to partner it with my blueantst3, similar to yours. initially it worked because i activated both options. my phone recently went beserk, dont know why, and shut itself down. managed to fire it up again after a few start attempts, just started up by itself after i gave it a few days "rest". i lost alot of my information and contact list, and my bluetooth connection. after installing all my info (ones i could remebmer) back into the phone i tried to reconnect my bluetooth and noticed that the 2nd option (new outgoing port) that was there originally is now gone, and therefore i cannot connect to my blueantst3. by the sounds of it you never encountered anything like i did to set your bluetooth up, interesting! my jasjam is using ROM version: 1:31:305:2, ROM date: 09/08/06, radio version: 1:20:31:10, protocol version: 35:52:7020:00H, extROM version: 1:31:305:103. i think the scenario here is that other devices are able to connect to my phone, according to the instruction explained above, 1st option, but it (my phone) is unable to ,according to 2nd option, unless i activate the "new outgoing port" which i can't because i don't have the option there anymore to activate. this is why my question i posted up is "how can i restore this option?", so i can enable my phone to connect to other devices like my blueantst3. but if you come up with anything that can help me to retain my bluetooth connection i'm happy to listen and try them out. again thank you very much for your help, much appreciated.

Bluetooth work with "profiles". There's a profile for networking, another for picture transfer, another for calendar transfer... There's one for headsets and one for stereo audio. And one for serial ports.

You don't need to configure any serial port to connect to a headset.

What you need is to make sure the headset is in discoverable mode and they you create the pairing (or bonding as some call it).

seriously though, you need to look at upgrading to a WM6, you're running WM5! So old.

log into the club-imate site and download the upgrade to WM6 (better in many ways than WM5). Read the wiki on your product. And finally ... plenty of guides for you if you wish to venture .... onto dark territories
