Just purchased mine, should be in my hands day after tomorrow! Will post up feedback once it arrives and some comparisons to N82/95/95 8GB/HTC Touch Pro/Xperia...
Phones direct here in NZ, same kind of price as Ebayers are selling it for currently. Too much to pay really, but I don't really care since its what I'm making on the sale of my Touch Pro...
I am looking at getting myself one of those...was originally looking at the N96, but have since gone off that idea after reading many reviews.
How much did you pay exactly?...$1300 odd?
And are you Wellington based?...would love to meet up and have a play with it, before commiting to the purchase.
[EDIT] Ahh...$1,136.53 (GST Incl)

I have it now... Played for a couple of minutes before charging - very very initial impressions:
OS speed seems decent. Main problem I encountered has been pointed out elsewhere - little internal consistency in the UI. Some menu items you single tap, others require two. This is very poor and such an easy thing to get right.
Browser sadly seems very bad after experiencing Opera on the Xperia, UI is not great and scrolling was really jerky (but you'll likely find it an improvement over what you're used to if you're coming from a QVGA screen).
Build quality - adequate and nothing more. Nice grippy matte finish on the back, no moving parts, no creaks, quite a nice size in the hand. Still though, its plastic construction reeks of being cheap, and its too light. There is a lip around the screen that is super annoying too - hope the N97's screen is flush - this will collect dust and grime.
Screen seems pretty good, will be keen to see in direct sunlight later. I suspect it'll be better than the Xperia in direct sunlight for visibility, but otherwise worse due to its lower resolution. Sensitivity is fine, in fact good for a resistive screen (slightly more sensitive than the Xperia I think).
Onscreen keyboard is alright in landscape, but phone keypad with T9 easily seems like the best text input method for this phone.
Speakers are fantastic, very loud. At the highest volume sound quality suffers of course, but what that does is give you headroom - at lower volumes you'll still be as loud as any other phone out there and the sound quality will be good. Should be nice for GPS voice guidance if you have nothing to plug the phone into.
Accelerometer seems a bit twitchy, others have commented on this too. Very fast screen rotation in basic apps, but it goes black for 1-2 seconds and then switches when you're doing things like browsing.
Thats it for the meantime... needs to hurry up and finish charging...
