When I plug the USB adapter into the IPAQ to recharge it the charge light and screen flashes on for an instant. The device does not power on at all. The computer detects the device either as not connected or malfunctioned. I had the mainboard replaced not to long ago(it worked fine when I got it back) and its been about a month since I used it. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Any chance you did not disable the battery while it was not in use or not keep it on a charger? If so, its possible the battery is damaged and you will need to get it replaced.

I am not aware of anyway to disable the battery on this series. And the battery was not charged during that month. I tried to charge it through the USB adapter, but the charge light doesn't stay on. I even left it connected overnight in hopes it would still recharge the battery, but no luck.

If you look at page 1-9 in the User's Guide you will see the instructions for doing a full reset which disables the battery. You can also simply remove the battery. The best solution is to keep the device on a charger when not in use... The manual should be on the companion CD that came with your iPAQ or you can download a copy from HP...

Also look at Chapter 3 - Managing the Battery...

Good luck...
