Hello

I have a IPAQ 2215 with a Wireless G Access point (WAP-54G). I also have a CompactFlash Card USB Adapter (RS-232 Serial Adapter Version:2.0). I have heard someone say maybe I need a BlueTooth phone to make it work.....I don't think this is the answer.
I have been unable to get this to work wirelessly or even get online when my 2215 is in the cradle. Does anyone have any answers?

Thank you
David

You need to purchase either an 802.11b or 802.11g card for your PocketPC...

Linksys is now offering this 802.11g card in a CF form factor...Note this card is also compatible with 802.11b networks...

http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=36&prid=628

Other folks like either the Symbol or Socket 802.11b cards...

...or a SD form factor 802.11b card...

http://www.socketcom.com/product/WL6200-480.asp

Another option is a combination memory/802.11b card...

Note that I have not used any of these cards...

As always, YMMV...

The HP 2215 that I bought doesn't have a compact flash slot (Circuit City told me I needed this to make the BlueTooth work, my $50.00 loss).

The instructions say-----
Connecting to the Internet
Use your iPAQ Pocket PC to connect to the Internet or your Work
network.
To send and receive e-mail with Inbox and to view Web sites
with Pocket Internet Explorer, you must set up a remote
connection with devices such as a CompactFlash (CF) modem
card, Secure Digital Input/Output (SDIO) modem card, ethernet
card, or a wireless 802.11x card. (Another option) is to use a
Bluetooth-enabled device such as a phone or >(LAN Access point)<

Note:>(LAN Access point)< Now back to what I have is a IPAQ 2215 with a Wireless G Access point (WAP-54G). Is this to say that my BlueTooth that is built in to my HP 2215 is useless and I now have to buy a special wireless SD Card to make this work with my Comcast service provider? Is this to say that my Wireless G Access point (WAP-54G) is not compatable with my built in Bluetooth?
Thank you
David

Well, unless I'm reading the specifications from HP wrong the iPAQ 2215 comes with both a SD slot (SDIO) and a CF slot (Type II)...

Have you physically looked at the device to see if in fact you have a SD and a CF slot? Have you read your User's Guide?

The bottom line is your wireless access point will NOT communicate with a Bluetooth device. Your wireless access point is an 802.11g/b device and you must use an 802.11g/b card in your iPAQ 2215 if you want to communicate with your wireless access point....

What part of this don't you understand.....the IPAQ 2215 DOESN'T have a CF slot, it only has a SD slot. I physically looked. I also quoted you directly from the USER'S GUIDE. Now with that being said, if I go out and buy this 802.11g/b card will I have to buy anything else? Since I have to pull out my 128MB sd card and replace it with a 802.11g/b card what can I do about storage? Do they make a 802.11g/b card with storage? HP sold me this 2215 with BlueTooth knowing BlueTooth doesn't work!

Thank you
David

See my first reply for information about combination SD cards with memory and 802.11b functionality.

See the Geekzone Bluetooth guides if you want to use BT with a BT interface in your PC or with a BT equiped mobile phone...

[edited by moderator] the 2210/2215 absolutely does have a CF slot, and an SD slot.

It seems correct. The HP iPAQ h2215 specs page clearly indicates SD and CF slots.

kincaidcharade and Mauricio...

I think you guys are beating a dead horse so to speak. I don't think the original poster is open to the suggestion that he doesn't quite understand the capabilities/functions of his iPAQ 2215...:-)

Later...
