I have just upgraded both my E71 and my partner's to the v200 firmware. Unfortunately, for some strange reason, the Downloads! list has pretty much disappeared! I have done a refresh in both top level and within the Applications folder in the Downloads! application to no avail.

The only thing available at the moment is this structure:

Downloads! > Applications > Widgets > <A whole bunch of widgets>

No other application is listed regardless of how I refresh my list, both through VF Internet connection and our WiFi at home. SmartConnect was pretty much an essential app for us both and now we can get hold of it :o(

Has anyone else encountered this? I've asked one other person and he doesn't seem to have this problem but both our phones are having this exact same issue.

You can find smartconnect if you google it.

Of course I can find SmartConnect on the web - that's not the issue. Downloading and installing it is the problem. The Birdstep website mentions that SmartConnect is licensed to the Nokia E-series and can only be installed through the Nokia Download app.

I had another look at Nokia Download this morning and now I have a fuller list which seem to be newly categorised into folders. I must've caught them during a transitional stage or some such. SmartConnect now says "Try for free" and any attempts to download and install it failed.

Symbian feels like such a stable OS yet the support surrounding it is beginning to feel incredibly flaky Yell

Find the birdstep folder on the c:\ and delete it, then download and reinstall it.

How frustrating - any attempt to get/download the app just gives me "Item download failed".

Great! Thanks for that - I've downloaded the sis file so I can install it on the other phone as well.

The download menu is being dumped and replaced by the Ovi store sometime soon.

SmartConnect downloads and installs on my phone, sets up fine, but when I go to connect to the access point it tells me it isn't licensed for my phone.

Damn product code variations!

Delete the birdstep folder and reinstall usually fixes it.

That step never worked for me previousl, not related to the problem I posted in this thread. The only way I fixed it was to follow the instructions here:
