Greeting all,

I've viewed another YouTube video regarding the N97:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxMIXTi9NX8

In addition to the GPS, it also has a built in compass to orientate the map (as mention in the video). So the N97 is very feature rich, and
will have a strong appeal to us.

I'm a pre-pay customer and when I buy such items, I like to pay cash. This leads me to my point, how much is it
realistically going to retail for?

The N97 has more features than an iPhone. A 16GB iPhone is going for $1129.00, so a 30+GB N97 with
qwerty/touch + hideous retailer markup would atleast retail for between $1600 to $2000.

Is that assumption correct? and if so, would you pay it?

Hmmm, unboxing videos *drool*

Expansys are showing a launch price of ?669.99 incl VAT in the UK.

I'b be surprised to see anything less than $1800ish here in NZ possibly even a RRP of $1999

*sigh*

I thought so. I'm guessing that the N97 is quite a milestone for Nokia in regards to hardware development i.e. your not going to see a N98 any time soon, thus the N97 with hold its price for a long time.

I can see myself now walking into Bond & Bond to look at the display model, a sales assistant will walk up and say "Can I help you?", I'll say "No thanks, just looking ..." *sniff*

Reallistically I'll wait untill it's around the $900 (about two years from now!).

I'd just get the Samsung Omnia myself, but if you really want a hardware keypad you could do worse than the N97 (which I'll probably get in addition to the Omnia and then sell if I don't like it).
