Can anyone help me get my PDA2K to connect to the internet via Vodafone UK. I am a contract user. When I asked them for help they e-mailed me the web address for club i-mate.
I have downloaded the settings from that site and installed the cab.file but still no joy. the settings appear to be for WAP only. Vodafones web site only appears to support Windows Mobile 2002 OS. Should I stop taking the 'THICK' tablets?
HELP...Please...

The settings you need to connect to Vodafone UK are:

Modem: Cellular line (GPRS)
Access Point Name: Internet
Username: web
Password: web
Domain: [not required]

Hope this helps. For UK network settings I found this site useful as it's often difficult getting decent answers from the networks themselves.

No worries. I've found Vodafone pretty useless when it comes to settings. I've also got a 3G/GRPS Connect Card, and there are no details in the setup instructions about APNs - apart from 'typical' settings for a server in Holland! Very useful if you live in the UK.

Are you happy with your PDA2K? Mine's in for repair (and has been so for the last five weeks!) as the speech quality on the phone was very poor. In the meantime I've been using an i-Mate SP3 Smartphone and I find it very much more convenient. For me, it does pretty much all I need as I don't tend to compose long emails or other docs on the move. For me, the Pocket PC devices are much too bulky. And they don't support speech tags for voice dialing, which the Smartphone does.

Hi Flatfender, In the good old days (2yrs ago) you could speak direct to Vodafone's Data/GPRS team and they would talk you through any connection problems. Now you appear to go through an 'agent' and the answer is e-mailed to you. Not very customer focused, but when your the size of Vodafone........
In answer to your 2nd question, Yes I am pleased with my PDA2K. I've upgraded from a S/E T68i B/T'ed to a Ipac 3870. I found I was carrying too much kit around. I run my business from the front seat of my van, and daren't leave any technology on show (laptop,etc) so the PDA2K fits the bill. I was a little concerned to read that yours is in dock, who in the UK is handling service issues. I bought mine from Mobile-Fun.Com but i think they are only a sales outlet.

Hi Rolling9. I bought my PDA2K from Finger Technology (they are local to me, and I got it same day).They did tell me that a UK service center has been opened, but I have since been told that this doesn't handled PDA2K - only i-mate JAMs. So my unit has been returned to Taiwan - or so I've been led to believe. If I find out any more about UK service facilities, I'll post again.

One thing that really bugs me about the PDA2K is that the phone only rings three times before going to Voicemail. All too often that doesn't give me the chance to answer personally. Do you know if this is a setting I can change either on the device or network?

Hi Flatfender, Soryy, can't help you with this problem. I have my Voicemail switched off by default. By the time I've called Voicemail the work/job has been allocated so messages were useless. Our clients want to speak to us in real-time and have an answer there and then.
