In an attempt to stir things up around the Nokia N97, Nokia have just announced that the device will hit the global market this month in the staggering 75 countries simultaneously. Well, it was about time!

Not that we've had any concerns that Nokia would stick with the initially announced release date, but we guess getting the Nokia N97 finally on the shelves will be a time of joy for many Nokia fans.

OK guys, I see a couple listed on TradeMe this week for around $1600. Has anyone seen any for sale in shops? If so how much?

I have seen Trademe pull several N97 auctions too...so be weary.

It is now available and in stock in several countries, in particular Australia and the US, so you can get either the 900mhz or 850mhz version.

And $1700????
There is a hell of a markup on that....if you search properly, you should be able to pick it up legit for between $1000-$11000.

Personally, I am holding out until this Thursady (being pay day), will pay cash then...hoping a New Zealand network, any network, has made anannoucement by then of availablity and price.....hoping (fingers crossed)

I thought the N97 came with all 3g freqencies?

Haha, $11,000 would be a hell of a markup!  Laughing  I know, a typo.

I don't think you can get one in NZ currently for $1000-$1100 to be honest.  Look at how much the N85 and N95 are still selling for - around the $900 mark.  I am sure the N97 would be around $1500 cuz we are in NZ and we do get ripped off.

If you are waiting for Vodafone or XT, you may have to wait awhile.  Usually the new stuff arrives at Vodafone 3 months after the actual worldwise release as they need to test out their firmware (which does more damage than good).

Negatory.

As with other similar spec Nokias - you choose etiher 850/2100 or 900/2100.

Okie dokie.

So anyone seen the N97 in a retail store yet? Parallel Imported or the likes of the other parallel imported shops?

Yes and no.

There are 2 versions available...1 including 850mhz HSDPA (Telecom), and the 'NAM' version including 900mhz HSDPA (Vodafone)

Unfortunatley, you cannot get a version that includes both.

And $1700????

My bad, typo, $1000-$1100

That price is acheiveable if you import.

The N97 is not offically available yet in New Zealand, unless you get it through some dodgy 3rd party dealer like some unkown dealer on Trademe...I just wouldnt even go there, not considering what this mobile costs.

Trust me...I am following the Nokia N97 very very closely...
I am reading all the major Nokia enthusiast websites/blogs, I have daily alerts setup with Google, I have been checking Nokia local and US for the latest press annoucements, and I am also reguarlly checking Vodafone and elecom for updates....it has become an obsession, one that will not be abated until I have my Nokia N97.

I thought NAM = North AMerica = 850MHz UMTS variant.

900MHz UMTS is a European thing.

Phones direct now has it for around the $1600 mark (too much I think). I'm getting the Omnia HD first, next week hopefully, and that means I can wait a little while to also get the N97 - price should drop a couple of hundred by then.
