Should get here Tuesday/Wednesday of next week - will post up some thoughts then.

If anyone is considering getting this handset feel free to post questions here and I'll do my best to answer them in due course.

I am buying the HTC Touch Pro 2 tonight. I would have bought the Omnia if it was running Windows mobile OS.

I'm keen on the TP2 also, but holding out for an 850 version to use on XT.

as per billgates, NZtechfreak, where do you normally purchase your phones from?

I get them from various places depending on price, availability etc.

This time around I got it from Phonesdirect.co.nz - I got my 5800 from them also. Nice responsive service and better backup with respect to warranty, but if the price was much cheaper elsewhere I would probably have passed them over. Its $1413 from them, or $1325 from Plemix, but purchasing from Plemix means any warranty issues would be very bad (not to mention GST on arrival, essentially making it more expensive).

I've used x1387 a few times also, but not since he ceased to be an Ebay seller. As an Ebayer I had paypal protection, and also his website is strangely inactive too (no new models since the Xperia? whiskey tango foxtrot?). Otherwise I've used E-Infotech, and despite the bad word of mouth here had a good experience, and I also have a personal contact who imports Nokia's at very very good prices (I'll probably grab my N97 from him in a month or so when he should be able to get one).

@ Billgates: Let me know how the Touch Pro 2 is, I had the first one, but its straight up inferior to the Xperia (and to be honest I don't see too much in the TP 2 that makes it better either, apart from its keyboard, which is amazing). Anyways, will be really keen to hear your feedback on that handset also.

I also bought mine from phonesdirect.co.nz for $1281. Will do a short review and post it up on GZ once I get the phone. Will be happy to answer/test things out on the phone once I get it.

@Damager - I was also thinking about waiting for the HTC Warhawk (XT) but then decided that I cannot wait this long. Besides my main use will be Pre-paid broadband which is $10 for 100mb from VF or Telecom. So not really too keen on XT as it's almost same pricing.

Remote Desktop on landscape mode. How cool is that!
