Hi there.

After doing Some Research on some NZ Websites, Overseas Sites + the actual HTC Website, I am getting varried Network Lists and therefore not sure as to which of the following HTC Phones will be able to get put onto the XT Network. I realise some/if not all of these phones can be purchsed from Trade me/Imported stores, but i dont want to buy one if its not going to work.

The Phones are...

HTC Touch Diamond 2
HTC Touch HD
HTC Touch Pro2

Thanks in Advance

Edit: Can you Put HTC Phones on XT Network Prepay, or still a no no?

well as long as you buy them unlocked they should be fine to put on pre pay ... the main thing is it needs to support 850/2100 WCDMA, if it doesn't then you can't use it on XT .. just look for the two bands, most HTC I know are 900/2100

As far as the HTC touch HD goes .. you need the T8285 model .. not the T8282 model.
The T8285 was brought out for AT&T in the states and telstra in aussie .. both of which are 850/2100 Mhz.
I havnt found anyone selling these in NZ yet, can only get them from Oz. there are a number of the T8282 models for sale here in NZ, for the vodafone network.

You can use in both prepay or account. If on prepay remember to add data packs otherwise you will be charged at casual rates.

The important thing is to make sure you buy the models with support for 850MHz WCDMA/HSDPA.

hmmm it does say "3G Network HSDPA 850/ 1900/ 2100" .. so i would guess it is the t8285 model. i would contact them and get them to verify first thou.

Yeah $1500 is a lot, that is about how much i could get one in from aussie .. plus shipping. wasnt to keen on paying that sort of cash and having an overseas warranty on top if it all. chickened out and got a iphone to play with for a bit. still keen on the touch hd thou.
i say you get one, then let me play with it for awhile to see if i want to get one :)

Yeah. I will get in touch with them in a day or two if i want to pay $1500. I dont think i want to though. Seems abit to much for a phone IMO.

Good try, but im going to decline your offer or letting you try before you buy. lol

None of the online shops in NZ are selling the T8285 model (what you want). If you want to buy the T8282 then cheapest place to buy it from is phonesdirect.co.nz ($1206). You can buy the T8285 model from ebay. Lots of sellers from Australia have them on sale.

The link you have provided is also T8282 so no good for you unless you are happy to stick to VF band. HTC Touch Diamond 2 and HTC Touch Pro 2 are NOT YET available in the 850 Mhz. AT&T will be getting the 850Mhz models sometime by end of this year. They are codenamed Warhawk (Touch Pro 2) & Fortress (Touch Diamond 2) for AT&T.

PS - I bought the HTC Touch Pro 2.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Various aussie forums note that the Touch Pro 2 will be released by Telstra on July 14. There's no indication yet if it will be the same version that is currently available which is the 900/2100 WCDMA, or a NextG/AT & T compliant version in the 850 flavour.

I've also emailed HTC directly re a 850 variant. No reply yet.

Im still in the air re getting a T8285 Touch HD from aussie.. I'm so used to my HTC Titan now that for my next phone, i cant afford to fork out around $1200 and not have a keyboard.

If i can manage to get a Touch HD for say $500, slightly used condition, ill get it asap. That will do me until an 850 TP2 gets released.

Hi Guys,

The Telecom Xt version HTC are hard to get. I'm procuring some now and hopefully have some real good news soon. I am a real fan of HTC ever since they went out in the big world by themselves. They have a very low fault rate too as on average mobile phones have a 5% failure rate.

Cheers

Paul

I have emailed HTC re an 850 UMTS/WCDMA version and no reply. Telstra employees on the whirlpool forums say July 14 is the date that a NextG compatible Touch Pro 2 will be released, if thats correct, i hope it will be unlocked as well.

Hi Mauricio,

I can confirm this to be 100% true for me also. I have forwarded my initial email to them about 6 times over the last week and a half.  They're auto response says replies can be expected in 24 hours... maybe it was a typo.. they actually meant 124 hours..
