Hi All,

I tried copying a movie over to me SD card in my X610 last night, because it took ages I left it running and went to be, this morning it had finished copying over so I unplugged the phone and left for work, when I got to work I went to put some music on as I do every morning but the phone didn't sense the SD card in it, I have turned it off and on a few times, put the card in and out as well as trying various combinations of starting the phone with the card in then putting it in again, starting with the card in etc but it wont sense it. I am going to go to PB and get a card reader and see if the file I put on it has corrupted the card, but does any one have any other ideas as to what I have done ?

The rest of the phone works fine except the programmes that are on the card.

Use the USB cable as little as possible, there are issues with charging via USB which corrupts the power management. And when you do use USB, afterwards turn off WiFi and turn it back on. The issue seems to be ActiveSync or something keeping the WiFi module active.

Get a reader in any case, it is a lot faster than via the phone and reliable.

By the way, I'm designing a USB product and just recently discovered standard large USB connectors are designed to last on 500 insertions, where as mini USB is designed for somewhere between 1 500 and 10 000 (some expensive ones up to 20 000). So it is worth looking for a card reader with mini USB connection.

There is an updated firmware A13 020 0702. It is available from the Glofiish support web site, but the file name is too long to be able to click on the download link. You can find the URL by viewing the page source. Or someone can suggest a site where I can upload a 64MB file without having to sign up with my e-mail address or do torrenting.

You can hard reset the phone. It is hard to do even when following instructions and you loose all your contacts. It is not just the simple pressing of the reset button. Google it; I'm sure you'll find it. Procedure is similar to the X600.

I have discovered that my SD card appears to have been corrupted, does anyone know how to fix this without having to re-format it.

I just got a USB card reader from PB and it picks up the card but tells me it needs to be formatted.

No that keen as I have all the programme files on there as well as google maps data etc.

Google, experienced it myself, and came up with a solution myself. I've noticed the WiFi light flashing as soon as I unplug the USB, and the only way to get it to stop was to disable WiFi and re-enable it.

The X610 is not so popular, it is intended for upcoming markets, so it is harder to find specific forums for it.

USB spec delivers 100mA guaranteed. Motherboards deliver more (up to 500mA, but voltage not necessarily specified) but the polyfuse on the motherboard (or hub) will cause voltage drops so the battery can not actually charge to the proper voltage. Some PCs will be fine, others will not. Charging is turned off when current consumption drops below a pre-set threshold, which can also happen when the voltage delivered via the USB cable drops too close to the battery voltage. USB cables also come in different grades, and short cables are not rated for high current. Only the longer cables have larger diameter wires which can support higher charging currents.

Note that the battery charge state indicator in the E-Ten is actually only a voltage measurement, not an actual "charge accumulating" controller found on more expensive products. There is a patch available for the X600 and X650 to show 1% steps rather than 5% steps, but it still does not fix anything.

A friend at work had the same battery issue with his X610 when charging via USB. A USB port is just not made for it. Sure it works on some PCs, but then it still takes 5 times longer than through a plug pack. And no, there is no degradation of the battery when charging faster, it is normal to charge at 1C rate.

I have bitten the bullet and tried to format the card but I am getting a message saying that the formatting was unsuccessful.

Any ideas?

Windows will do only a high level format, not a low level format. The advanced formatting option only verified it can read data, nothing else. A low level format is required to rewrite the protected area on the memory card. Google "SDHC low level format" which brings up interesting reading, particularly this one: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=20223 which refers to http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html which might be of use to you.

If you need a new card, I got a Kingston 16GB off eBay. The seller is based in the US, has lots of positive feedback, and it was about $100. His name is something like FlashCards or FlashMemory or something like that.
