I have an Axim X50v and I am using Activesync 3.8. I can use internet passthrough at home with no issues (USB cradle at home). But, I have another USB cradle at work and internet passthrough works, but only using an IP address not the name of the webiste. My work computer is on a LAN and I can connect using the desktop, but internet passthrough can't seem to find the DNS. I have tried a proxy on the Axim and it works, but is very slow.

Any ideas to have this work, any settings changes on my computer?

Make sure your ActiveSync PassThrough at work is configured as accessing "The Internet".

I tried as "The Internet" and "Work" with the same issue. It is working to some degree, becase the IP will go through, but not the name. Having a tough time figuring it out.

Thanks

It sounds like a firewall conflict on your work machine then. Make sure you don't have any personal firewall blocking ActiveSync - this is for Zone Alarm, Norton IS or even the built-in Windows XP Service Pack 2.

I have XP SP2 and the firewall is off. Also I have Norton Anitvirus installed, but have that turned off, no other firewalls on the computer.

I can't connect to "www.yahoo.com", but if I type in the IP address of yahoo "66.94.230.50" it connects just fine.

The most common cause for DNS problems is when the ActiveSync is set to Work instead of The Internet. You say this was tried before, but just in case make sure you change this setting before placing the Pocket PC in the cradle. Even better, change the setting, reboot the computer and then try again.

Also, make sure on your Pocket PC the Connections setting for Internet is set to My ISP (default) or something else you use, but not Work.

I set Activesync to "The Internet" and the Axim to "My ISP" rebooted the computer and still not luck.
