Brilliant BigPearl! ;-)

Which phone are you using? In tools -> settings -> General -> positioning you can turn on and off the GPS / network based methods for positioning. Make sure integrated GPS / Assisted GPS and Network based are all ticked.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Also, under positioning server in the same place make sure the server address is supl.nokia.com and access point should be your internet access point.

1. Goto http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/maps/download-maps
2. Select Start
3. Select N86 8MP
4. Select Next
5. Click "I accept the End User Software agreement
6. Click Download

7. Once you're downloaded the application, plug your phone in via data cable and make sure all the usual device drivers have loaded (if you can use PC Suite then this should all be fine)

8. Goto http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/maps/download-maps/map-loader
Download The Nokia Maploader 3.0

9. Install Nokia Map Loader 3.0
10. Double click on the Maps Updater Application you've just downloaded
11. Once installed, unplug the handset from your computer and start the Nokia Maps application on your handset.
12. Close the application on your handset and plug the data cable back in.

13. Start the Nokia Map Loader.
14. Select the Maps you want to go on to your handset and Download.

This should be enough to get you going.

13.

Yes, GPS works with an open view to the sky (although they can occasionally lock indoors, especially very good GPS units like the one in the i8910).

OK. To find out how far your WLAN goes, follow these simple instructions:

1. Open your front door.
2. Step outside.
3. Look up.
4. Make sure you can see the sky.
5. If your WLAN still works then it can reach outside.

How far WLAN goes is dependent on many factors, the main one being your wireless router.
