i just bought a harrier (audiovox 6600) ... great little phone :-)

what i am trying to figure out is WHERE on the cellphones file-system directory are the ring-tones stored ? and are they .mid files ?

is there any software i need to upload these ? or can i just copy and paste the mid file into the cellphone (as i can view its file-system under my computer)

also any ring-tone sites where i can download some to upload to my phone would be great :-)

uhhh... you can use .wavs I think, and they just go in the Windows directory on the Harrier.

Then using File Explorer - find the file, right click on it, and choose 'set as ringtone' and you should be away laughing.

Try other file formats too (but maybe back up your device first, cause my advice might make your harrier burst into flames (hasnt happened yet - but you just never know)

cheers for the info :)

another Q for ya ..... i tried copying an mpeg file to the phone (music vid) to play in WMP ..

file explorer doesnt recognise the filetype, it tells me to open it in WMP

but WMP wont show the file as its not a recognised file ;(~?

wen i copied the mpeg to the cellphone it said it was converting it or something .. but who knows..
is there a way i can force WMP to play a file ? or do i have to convert my mpeg files somehow ... maybe to mp4 ??

help :)

Windows Media Player will only playback WMV files. For other types you need a software like PictPocket for Pocket PC.

A good place I got lots of free polyphonic[midi]ringtones was,www.free-ringtones.eu.com. for my harrier, you can either put them in windows/rings or my documents, the device will let you set it as a ring tone from either

I use Audacity from audacity.sorceforge.net to cut and copy 30 second segments of .mp3s, export to wave and then pop on my Harrier. Currently have "maybe tomorrow" the littlest hobo theme, but also got Miami Vice and Follyfoot.
