I've brought an okta touch, and started doing the upgrade (from www.telecom.co.nz/oktatouchupgrade). Follwed required steps and got as far as clicking yes to update, computer crashed and usb / sync connection was lost with okta. Okta is now displaying a red, green, blue, white stripped screen with the following text:

VOGU100
SPL-0.36.0000
CPLD-3

Tried to restart okta, but still get same screen.

Any help please???

That's the bootloader screen. Run the Rom Update Utility again and see what happens. Make sure:

your pc doesnt time out

the screen saver is off

the update is the only process running

You could also give winmo 6.5 a try too, I just got an okta a few weeks ago and recently flashed it to 6.5, really nice OS

I've got the new update installed now, and windows is running fine. Only problem is that I can't make/receive calls and txts. Rung Telecom who took me through the steps to program the cell number into it again. That didn't solve the problem. Took phone into a telecom shop. They reset the network connection to my phone. That didn't solve problem either. So I'm stuck yet again. I'm not to keen on putting winmo 6.5 on it just yet or until I get it working! . Any more help this time?

This is a common issue after a firmware upgrade. Call Telecom and ask them to allocate your number to a dummy esn for say 5 minutes. This is to ensure your phone is completely disconnected from the network. Then ask them to reconnect your phone number back to the Okta's esn.

You should be golden after that.

Telecom should add some instructions to disconnect the phone from the network, so the upgrade is done offline.

Before Telecom reset the network connection to my phone, they took the battery out of the phone and left it out for 10-15 mins afterwards as well. Is that the same kinda thing as you are suggesting?

Not really, i would say resetting the network connection i believe is pretty much just disconnecting and reconnecting the phone, like a calling bar.

What needs to happen is that your phone number needs to be **** completely disconnected from the esn**** . If you have a bung 027 around somewhere, use that to dump your phone number on for a few minutes. And then reallocate the phone number back to the okta esn.

cheers

Google XDA Developers and PPCGeeks.

Search the HTC Vogue forums and you're golden :-)

The one I got was nfsfan's one, its carrier generic so it doesnt override any settings, but I would still write it all down just incase, you might also need to use Imcokes 2.31 unlocker first too

Only problem ive had is, When the okta had winmo 6.1 I bluetoothed my contacts over from my old phone, but now when I try it with 6.5 it fails, anyone else had this prob?, file transfer still works fine, maybe 6.5 uses a new format for contacts.

Mofofofo ...Im looking at flashing my vogue to nfsfan's 6.5 . Are you saying you did use the 2.31 unlocker? Cause i'm currently running the okta touch 6.1 upgrade like you were .
Also did you update your carrier setting's with the TNZ cab ? Did the 6.5 rom upgrade your radio or did it stay the same as the 6.1 rom radio.
Ive been reading pages and pages of forum info so it would be cool to hear from someone who took the plunge ;)

Yea I was a bit sus about doing it, so I wrote everything down (from ##778#), started off with cokes unlocker, then did v13 of nfsfans which doesnt need a carrier cab as its generic, and na it didnt change the radio so no need get the phone reconnected.
