Is there anything along the lines of LogMeIn that will enable me to do remote desktop connections over my home network, rather than logging in over internet.

All i want it for is to control my laptop while around my house using the PDA, and I have used Windows Remote Desktop for some work stuff and I really like that..... problem there is i don't have XP Pro, so can't use that.............. any suggestions??

I'm using WiFi, XP Home, and I-Mate PDA-2K (soon to be replaced with XDAIIi)

Cheers,
James

You could try a VNC server and look for PocketVNC.

So can i just go grab any VNC client for XP, and then use PocketVNC to access my PC

I presume just make sure whatever VNC i use supports PPC's, or will they all support it??

Cheers for the tip.... i haven't looked around much yet but i think this will be exactly what i'm after

You need a VNC server for Windows XP, and then a Pocket VNC client. Google for PocketVNC, or check the VNC search on Geekzone Store.

just downloaded 'tightVNC' for XP, and got the PPC version you suggested.
Cheers for the advice..... will see how it goes for a few days, I might try a few different clients for the PC and see what works best

P.S. This forum rocks.... I have been recommending this to any of my customers that buy PPC's lately. Great technical info, not too techy for those who don't live and breathe this kind of stuff (I think most of us do though!) and friendly....... perfect!!
I love the news links and other general links on the front page as well, always seem to be relevant to something I'm interested in...... keep up the good work

If Pocket PC has a RDP client and you have Win XP pro (not home), you can just allow remote access via that.

XP Pro has the limitation of only one user logged in, so when ones logged in via a terminal session (RDP) - the physical machine can not be used.

I find that RDP is much lighter over low bandwidth links against VNC (though this quickly changes with images).
