I am trying to set up the Bluetooth sync between a Sony PCG-Z1VAP1 (using Bluespace NE)and a Treo 650. I have set up a trusted pair, both of the devices recognize each other.

Here's the problem: When I try to set up the virtual serial port, I have Bluespace detect services for the Treo. The only services that appear are Filepush and Vcard, no Serial port. The Treo won't sync - I get a message saying that the serial port is in use by another application.

How can I set up the VIrtual Serial Port if Bluespace can find the Serial connection on the Treo?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been working on this for a looong time now. I've tried disconnecting both devices and reconnecting them, restarting both the computer and the Treo, and reinstalling Bluespace. In the HotSync Manager under Setup, I have COM5 showin as an available port, but I don' t know where to go from here.

Thank you.

You have to setup an Incoming Serial port on your Sony Vaio, and discover the service from your Treo, not the other way around.

Have you checked our Bluetooth Guides yet? You will find the configuration there.

Also, the Sony Bluespace software is known to be not working well with serial connections - it certainly doesn't work with ActiveSync, although I haven't seem reports of problems with HotSync yet.

Freitasm,

Thank you for your guidance. I went to the Bluetooth guides and followed the the steps in "How to Hotsync your Palm over Bluetooth". I set up the serial port on the pc as you suggested and as is instructed in the above article. Everything is set up right, except I still get the same message: "Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application."

As far as I can tell, the port is not in use by any other application. I even created another port, COM 6, and got the same message.

Could there be another application that is using these ports (COM 5 and 6)? Where can I check this? Thank you again for your help.
