I’m trying to sync my Toshiba e755 to my computer for the first time. I’ve installed ActiveSync 3.8 along with the USB driver downloaded from Microsoft’s website. I am using Windows XP operating system. My computer does see a connection when I connect the pocket pc through the USB, but it says that there is not driver installed to identify the unit, even after I’ve already installed the driver. Can anyone please explain what I am doing wrong?

If will need the ActiveSync from the Toshiba CD. The software on Microsoft's website does not have all the drivers all the time.

Install the ActveSync from the Toshiba CD, then install ActiveSync 3.8 from the Microsoft website. This way you will have the drivers.

Thanks, but that was the first thing I did before I decided to search for the updated version. After the program failed to sync, it displayed: com 1, com 2 available, IR not installed and USB is available. (If that helps any) I asked toshiba for guidance, and spent half an hour with no progress. They suggested it was a harware problem, and want me to send it in. The person I bought it from said he sync it just fine with his computer, both USB and IR. What other driver could there possibly be for a toshiba e755?

Perhaps the USB port on your computer is faulty? Are you connecting it to a USB HUB or directly to the USB port? These devices use too much power and can't be connected to a USB HUB.

Also, older VIA motherboards have USB problems.

And last, check if there is any personal firewall blocking internal communications. Zone Alarm should be set to Medium, as a reference.

The USB from the Pocket PC is connected directly to to my computer's USB. I have never had any problem with my USB before. I've tried many methods, but all the computer states is "USB device not recognized."
