I have just purchased an ORANGE M500, quite a neat device. However I am having an issue when syncing with my desktop. It will synchronise fine via BT for inbox, notes, tasks contacts, but gets stuck on looking for changes when trying to sync calendar.

When syncing my Orange SPV C500 everything works fine.

This leads me to think that a corruption of some sort has developed on the M500. How I resolve this, I do not know. This is driving me crazy.

Any help please??

Does it work ok when synchronising over USB? The Bluetooth synchronisation process can take some time, if you have lots of items. I suggest using it only after a couple of USB syncs...

Tried USB, exactly the same.

When I go into OPTIONS on the MS ACTIVESYNC, and I untick CALENDAR sync, everything works fine over BT and USB. (INBOX, TASKS and CONTACTS)

I then tried just syncing CALENDAR and the problen reoccurs, i.e. Looking for changes and then gets stuck. This only happens with the M500, when I sync with the SPV C500 everything is OK.

Very confusing, to me it seems that there is an appointment on the M500 that MS ACTIVE SYNC does not like??? How I find that out I do not know?

It is almost impossible to find what appointment (if any) is causing this, without deleting each one and testing - which is a lot of trouble of course.

Have you tried a hard reset and starting from the scratch?

How do I perform a HARD RESET on the ORANGE M500? What will this wipe from the M500?

The annoying thing is that it sometimes will synchroninse, but it takes about 15 / 20 mins to perform when on the SPV it takes less than a minute when it is syncing the same amount of info???

A hard reset will wipe the whole memory, bringing your device to the same state as it was when you first turned it on. I am not sure about how it is on the M500 - each device is different, but you should find it on the manual.

Otherwise try a soft reset while pressing the On/Off button - this seems to be standard in most HTC Magician devices.

Thanks for your advice.

I have now resolved the issue by trial and error.

I selected SYNC ALL APPOINTMENTS on the calendar seetings, and it synchronised very quickly and smoothly.

I then went back in and changed the seeting so it synced only 4 weeks of past and 26 weeks of future, and it worked fine. I have tried this several times over USB and BT and it is fine.

MORAL is you should sync all appointments first and then select the times that you wish for normal use.

Very strange. Never had to do this, but if it works for you then it's great.

Good tip too.
