I have NEVER been able to install Activesynch 3.7.1 or even the new 3.8 on my new "now 1 year old" Toshiba A45-s250 laptop. I've made due synching with my old laptop because I had an older IPAQ but recently purchased a Samsung I730 phone and want to get the synch software working.... PLEASE HELP.... when I go to install the software and click on the icon the computer starts to install... and asks me if I want to run the software BUT NEVER EVEN GETS TO OPENING THE INSTALLATION WIZARD...... I've tried running the install with all other start up programs not working to no avail. I'm not sure what else to do.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME
Welcome to Geekzone! You need to be sure your current user has Administration rights on this computer.
Also, make sure the temp folder for your user has no access restrictions.
Are you installing Activesync from the companion CD or from a download on the Microsoft site? You should start with the CD one because of drivers specifc for your new Pocket PC model, then upgrade to the latest one on the Microsoft site if needed.
i am the only user on the laptop and belive i have full administrative rights.... i am listed as the administrator of the computer and have never had any problem installing other programs.... IS THERE SOMETHING SPECIFIC I SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR IN THE SETTINGS OF THE ADMINSTRATOR THAT WOULD NOT BE IN THE DEFAULT SETTINGS (I.E. I HAVE NEVER CHANGED ANY SETTINGS IN THE ADMIN. AREA.)
Installation from either the CD with the phone or direct from msft site do the same thing... nothing. Either program/install begins the same, asking me if I want to run the program from Microsoft and then the program goes no further.... the task manager lists MYSASNC as a process running BUT NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS....
