I have a slight problem with an Ipaq rx3715 I bought from Ebay the came with everthing except the install disk it was damaged so didnt come with the unit, the unit works fine however locks the screen on the last item opened. I have tracked it down to a program called tennis pro but it wont uninstall due to a sharing violation, it doenst come up in running programs and cannot be deleted.

So i figured the only way to fix it would be reinstall everthing except i dont have the disk, can anyone suggest a method, or a fix to my dilema.

And i have contacted HP direct and they cant help me with a replacement disc ...no reason given they just wont do it unless I am the original purchaser etc etc..

Welcome to Geekzone...

You only need the CD if you want to install ActiveSync or Microsot Outlook (which is part of the package).

If you want to completely erase your Pocke PC and have it back to the condition it was when out-of-the-box then you need to perform a Hard Reset. This will erase all the memory's contents and prepare it like a brand new Pocket PC.

A Hard Reset will be different for each model, but in general it is done by pressing the Reset button at the same time you power on the unit. Some models require you to actually press one or two other buttons. You will have to use Google to search for the correct procedure for your specific model.

To perform a hard reset (losing all data!), insert the stylus or a paperclip into the reset hole on the bottom left of the 3715 while holding down the far left and far right of the four main buttons. Information in the iPAQ File Store will not be lost, but data on the Internal memory will be wiped.

Everthing worked fine all I did was pressed the reset button on the bottom of the unit,while turning the unit back on, andthen it updated something internally and then i was able to delete the suspect program and now the unit works fine.

Yes, you basically did a soft reset (like a reboot on your computer). I assumed you have tried that before...

No I had'nt because I wasnt sure if the operating system would be intact after the reset basically all i recieved was the unit the cradle charger and sync cable no manuals etc, so flying blind @ the moment other than the knowledge of computers have i scrambled through so far, but as for using the unit no problems however having a manual would have been an advantage I guess. Well for the few dollars i bought it for compared with a new unit Im happy.
