Hi:

I'm repeating this b/c i got an error message earlier. If it shows up 2x, i'm sorry.

I'm running activesync 3.8 to sync an ipaq 3600 series (win pocket pc 2002) with 2 computers, xp pro sp2 (work) and xp media center sp2 (home). I've been syncing just fine for several months.

This morning at work, i get a message that the calendar has items that have never synced before with this computer (well, of course it does!). Then, i'm only given 3 choices...combine, replace on ipaq or wait. Why can't i replace on computer??? By the way, my other items sync just fine and on the same sync, too. I have tried to change the rules and settings for the computer items be replaced on sync, but it didn't work.

Please help me resolve this problem. And, i'd like to know why or at least how to avoid this issue in the future. thanks.

Welcome to Geekzone. Although I can't really say why, I would say that when you have more than one computer and this kind of situation happens it gets really messy.

It may be that the file that contains the synchronisation settings/status has been deleted from one of your computers, thus marking all records for synchronisation again. The problem with this is the possibility of having duplicate records after the sync.

If you select to merge you have to go through your records and delete the duplicates - but only after you synchronise with both your computers first. There are some tools available in the market that will find duplicates and delete them for you.

Thanks. FYI, i decided to just bite the bullet and choose to combine the 2 calendars. Surprisingly, after it ran, a dialogue opened telling me that the following were duplicates and asked if i wanted them removed. i said yes, and all was done. Very nice!
