First Hello everyone

I had my ipaq 2210 crash. Lost everything on PDA side!

I was thinking that I may be able to retrieve some data via the activesync... BUT

I have been using activesync 4.0 on my PC... However I had to hard reset my pda to get it to work. (so I know the info is gone on the pda).

Created the standard partnership BUT

it will not let me select calander, contact or inbox.

I can only see these settings in syncronize with a server.

Can someone help me set it up so it all syncs when i put it in the cradle or use BT.

Im using pocket informant as my calander and dont have MS outlook installed.
Thank you

Welcome to Geekzone...

If you are not using a Windows Mobile 5.0 device then I recommend you install ActiveSync 3.8 instead and then try again.

ActiveSync 4.0 will not introduce any benefit for old devices, and it's currently only available for download for development testing - the official version comes with new devices and it's a newer software.

Well I guess you found part of the problem..

I uninstalled 4.0

Put in 3.8 BUT>>>

Setup failed to create on of the registry settings

It may not function untill these settings are corrected.

So..

Im kinda lost.. any idea where I should go

Thanks

First make sure you have Administrator rights on your machine. Then uninstall ActiveSync 3.8, reboot and proceed to install the original ActiveSync from your CD.

You should then reboot and install ActiveSync 3.8 from the Microsoft Windows Mobile site.

Nope still a no go.

I have put 3.8 in

Didn't seem to matter I get the same message.

Problem with the registry settings.

It only lets me pick the calander, contact etc.. if I select exchange server.

Prolbem is I dont have it.. and.

I know it is this computer because I tried the pda on the other computer and it works fine.

However.. last time I sync'd was on this computer and it has all the vital info., ie calander.

What could be the problem with the registry settings?

It could be a corrupted registry entry - have your computer rebooted before while running something or had a power outage in the region? Or perhaps a disk error?

Still no luck.

When I try to create a partnership I pick the standard.. but there is no options to pick calander etc..

only way i can pick it through the server option.

if I select standard it says calander and ET not installed

I still get the error messages that it may not work b/c of registry problems.

well..

Maybe I just cant get it to work with this computer..

Is there a way to get my PIM info back. That is the crucial info I need

I tried restore, but that wont do it either

Can I just find the file and put it on a SD and move it to another comp.. or load it right from the SD card?

You could try creating a new user with Administrator rights and (always using this new user), remove ActiveSync, reboot, install.

Then login again with your usual user name and try creating the partnership.

Wait a minute! You say in your first post you don't have Outlook on your PC?

ActiveSync requires Outlook. And all your PIM items are synchronised to Outlook.

That's probably why ActiveSync is not giving you the options?

Hello gogojuice. I have been talking to Microsoft and there are some reported cases of ActiveSync not presenting these options for synchronisation.

I could present your problem to them, but... Actvesync only synchronises to Microsoft Outlook, not Outlook Express.

Why am I putting bold on this? Because if this is not your case then I can't forward to Microsoft. ActiveSync will not really work with anything else.

Perhaps on your old PC there was Microsoft Outlook installed, but you actually used Outlook Express on your computer.

So, can you please confirm this?
