The best solution is to install Windws Media Encoder on your PC and stream the video (or music). Any other computer or Pocket PC with Windows Media Player will be able to tap into the stream.

Yes, it can be used for any streaming. You have to play something content on Windows Media Player on your PC.

Windows Media Encoder will capture the output (video and/or audio) and encode it on a stream, available to anyone who knows the IP address or name of your computer.

To play this content live you need either Windows Media Player on another PC, or Windows Media Player Mobile on a Pocket PC.

Mind you this is real streaming, not copying a file to your Pocket PC from a shared folder.

On Windows Media Encoder the status screen will show the URL to use. You can use the URL as shown (with the PC name if name resolution is on) or simply use the IP address instead of name, but keeping the rest.

Simply playing the DVD on Windows Media Player is not enough. You have to run Windows Media Encoder and configure the stream.

In theory WMEncoder will stream any input it can grab from your computer through Windows Media Player.

I have tried it with files only, but it should be ok with DVD (if not protected).
