Welcome to Geekzone... Are you using WEP? IF so, have you enter the WEP key correctly (you might want to use the soft keyboard to make sure the letters are correct).

Also, check that your AP is set to both 802.11a and 802.11b - the iPAQ will not connect if the AP is working in 802.11a mode only.

And check the HP website for the latest drivers and ROM updates to be sure all known/reported problems are fixed.

The ROM and wifi driver updates are a must for the 5550. I had the same issues until I download the half dozen or so rom and driver updates from HP. Be careful that you install them in the correct order - took me three tries :o)

No WEP, no Security at all, this AP is wide open... Now, Mutly, I loaded the ROM's and wifi updates, and one of teh ROM's died.. only way out was a hard reset and now my wireless comes up with no firmware, no driver and no MAC under Assets..?

Yep, getting the order right is a pain, as the instructions are hardly intuitive. Once you have them sorted, be sure to label the softpaqs in order for the next time. Unfortunately I don't have my old iPaq otherwise I would have told you which way to do them...

And I figured out the Wifi issue!!! Mine is a compatibility issue with Netgear WAB102. I walked to the end of my driveway and connected to my neighbor's wireless just fine!! He has a linksys.. I also told him how insecure his network is..

thanks!
