Hi

I remember reading somewhere here that 6.5 might be available in January. Not really sure what the benefits of such a change might be but anyone have any insights if this is going to happen soon.

WM 6.5 has some nice cosmetic changes, with an improved Sense UI, but most importantly is that it has the latest radio ROM for much improved network capability and communication, eg GPS/HSPA/WiFi/Bluetooth etc.

This is an essential upgrade especially for the radio ROM.

Another, maybe related question. I installed WM6.5 last night and must say very impressed. Today however a new icon appeared on the top of my phone, then found out I cant send or texts. Worked out that the sms message center number had changed. Got this sorted and all good again.

Got home to find out what the new icon meant and found out it is the Roaming icon. Couldnt find out how to remove it (phone still works fine). As the settings were new I did a hard reset but the icon still remains.

The other thing I did was register for microsoft myphone, in case that caused the problem.

Any ideas why icon there and how to remove it.

Cheers

So you have the large H icon and the new roaming icon? or just the roaming icon next to the signal strength icon.

I'm trying to see if I can replicate this icon also.

MS Myphone wouldnt be the cause of it.

Yes, that's correct. From left to right - have windows icon left corner, start, then just off centre is the roaming icon (tall triangle), big H, aerial /bars, speaker, battery and quick access to programmes in right corner.

This icon only came about late this afternoon. I was in an important meeting so I switched phone off completely. Got out of meeting and icon was there and had text issue. Text issue resolved but icon remains.

Try removing your sim for a solid 5 minutes, and the battery and then try again. Might be all that's needed perhaps. Worth a try.

Looks like it must be at sim card level. I swapped sims with daughters r100. With her sim in the TP2 the roaming icon did not appear. My sim in her r100 had the Roaming icon.

Thanks for your help anyway but looks like I need to call someone.

Cheers

Hi, I didnt get to make the call yesterday, hectic day - however the icon went away all on it's own. I didnt notice when it happened exactly but yesterday afternoon I was in a very poor coverage area and my phone was going in and out of reception. That might have fixed it. The cause of the icon appearing in the first place doesnt quite match though as the day before when it first appeared I had stayed in good coverage all day.
