I'm a newby to this, but basic question relates to the Nokia 6680 phone sometimes not being able to answer calls.
Most times, there are no problems, but around 3-5 times per day (depending upon the number of calls received), pressing the Answer button shows the calling number on the screen, but nothing happens (almost like the software has frozen somewhere). The caller says that the ringtone goes 'funny' (described as though it was bubbling up through water). If I wait for around 5-10 secs (subjective time), the call does actually come through (that is, if the caller has waited long enough); most times when this occurs, the call quality is similar to the description above (like someone talking through a water-filled pipe!).
I have also gotten the same call quality ("") when making calls sometimes.
This does not appear to be limited to only the NZ 6680 - the problem first started occuring on a Singapore version of the phone - so it could be a handset/software or network problem.
However, I have heard of other users having the same problems with calling and with reception, and they may not just be on the 6680.
In case it was a problem with my contacts list, I had removed it completely from the phone, but this made no difference.
The Voda shop where I bought the 6680 queried their tech sources - first the NZ 6680 has what they claim is the latest version of firmware (3.04.12), compared to the V2.?? on the Singapore version.
They have now turned off the 3G functions in the phone to see if there is some problem there (???), effectively making the phone just a glorified phone.
Has anyone seen/heard this problem, and is there a simple resolution to it?
Thanks
