I am in Banda Aceh, working on Tsunami relief. I originally had an Australian net.au email address profile@octa4.net.au, and then octa4 was bought out by iinet, so both pop servers and smtps for octa4 and iinet will work when in Oz.
Then I had a domain name created, [name]@haritos.com.au, which sits over that, and so my domain name is a com.au and my pop details are net.au.
Anyway, the bottom line is that I cannot download emails onto my Pocket PC, it just always goes back and asks me for my address and password, and never gets past that.
What am I doing wrong, I don't sit on this forum at all, this is first time, and would appreciate a solution to [name]@haritos.com.au.

Welcome to Geekzone. IT is a little confusing, so we need to clarify things. Do you have your own mail server? It doesn't sound like.

If you don't have your own mail server and all emails to your domain are redirected to a pop3 account, then you have to use that pop3 account's user and password, not your own domain information.

Also:

- WHo is your Service Provider (Some Aussie Telco? Indonesian Telco?)
- Do they allow full pop3 access via their internet product?

Hello Freitas and Antonio.
You may need to explain to me how this works.
As I said in Australia I used to have an email address profile@octa4.net.au.
Then a company called IINet bought out Octa4, and because IInet had another profile as a user I was assigned profile2.
Then when I moved to Timor and Indonesia to work and set up a company I set up the domain haritos.com.au and my email is tony@haritos.com.au.
When I am in Timor or Indo, in Outlook I set up my email as username tony@haritos.com.au with [Moderator edit: password removed], POP is mail.octa4.net.au and the SMTP is the ISP I use in Timor or Indo, for example smtpdps.centrin.net.id for Centrin or smtp.inet.tp for East timor provider (also called Inet).
THis works ok however, I have problems with smtp sometimes.
So, I have this confusion over profile@octa4.net.au, profile2@iinet.net.au and my domain.
But with the O2 pocket PC, it does not work at all, kerps bouncing back to ask for user name and password.
Is this enough to explain.
I am happy to get rid of the octa4 and iinet connection as I no longer work in Australia.
Any suggestions?

To clarify further,
No I don't have own mail server.
The problem is, emails sent to profile2@iinet.net.au don't automatically go to profile, so if I use the pop 3 user account and password, for rxample, the iinet details, firstly the domain emails don't download, and secondly the prompt for user name and password endlessly comes up.
I am very confused by all this.
