I've just purchased the HTC Snap and have tried to connect it to my Windows XP PC. The PC finds the device and it's recognised as an SmartPhone USB Sync device. Windows can't find the driver. Do I:

Use the disc that came with the phone? Does it have a driver on the disc? Or, get windows to search the net for the driver? Should Windows just recognise the device?

I'm asking because:

1) I still have a few days to take it back and don't wish to open the Disc cover (it's sealed) so that everything is in the best possible condition should I decide to return it.
2) I've tried the HTC worldwide site and can't find a driver there.
3) A point ot note. I may have a service turned off that the HTC and Windows requires for the device to connect. I've tweaked this PC using Black Vipers website: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

With Windows XP you have to use the CD. On Windows Vista and Windows 7 it downloads automatically from Windows Update.

Download activesync from Microsoft that should sort it, as Mauricio points out the sync centre is built in for Vista and 7 but you need activesync for XP

Download ActiveSync http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-synch.mspx if you don't want to open the CDs.

There's nothing additional on the CD's other than the manual, as already pointed out all the drivers are included in Active Sync

That's answered that question.

That looks like a handy little website. I'll bookmark it now and have a look-see later on.

Great. Thanks everyone!
