I have following Gadgetry which is giving a strange error. Please help as this thing is driving me crazy:

What I have:

- iPAQ 3955
- OS = Windows 2003 (upgraded from OEM PPC 2002)
- Compaq Bluetooth/ CF Expansion Jacket
- Widcomm BT Drivers ver.1.3.1.46 (you need to play a little to get the Bluetooth/CF jacket working under PPC 2003).
- Nokia 6230
- GPRS enabled by Service Provider

Trying to do:

- Simply browse internet on my iPAQ 3955. Connencting iPAQ with nokia 6230 and then accessing GPRS.

Problem:

iPAQ 3955 connects well with the Nokia Handset over Bluetooth. I can even access my ISP using Dial-up. However, when I try access Internet over GPRS, it connects then says 'CREATING GPRS CONNECTION' and disconnects giving error 'FIRST SUBSCRIBE TO GPRS'.

Please Note:
a) I can browse net on the same Nokia Handset
b) I can connect same Nokia Handset (and service provider) to my HP Notebook and access Internet using GPRS
c) It is a simple case of creating a Bluetooth Dialup Connection on the iPAQ and then having *99# has the dialing number - So, where am I going wrong ???

Can someone please help ! I have already followed the Geekzone step by step Bluetooth dial up guide for iPaq Windows Mobile 2003

Welcome to Geekzone... If you are able to access the internet from your laptop, then you should perhaps look at using a different number (*99***1# for example) instead of the default.

Also, you might want to find the name of the APN your operator uses and place a full init string on your connection on the Pocket PC. The string is something like +CGDCONT=1,,"internet", where internet must be replaced with the APN.

Thank you soo much. The trick worked !! I just added the string as mentioned and it worked - voila !!

Hi,
I am very new to this site. I have tried for two years to connect my ipaq1940 to the net using my sharp902 vodafone live' phone, via bluetooth. The bluetooth connection is definitely working because I have transferred contacts etc between the two devices.

I notice you mentioned the APN . On my phone under internet settings ther are various APN's. Which one should I use. Also , can you write the string you talk about exactly as it should appear on my ppc.,..and where it should be entered.

Can anyone help.
