Okay, buyer beware and all that.
I've recently purchased a Sony Clie PEG-NX70V second hand on Trademe, I like it, so does my partner who has gone from thinking "that cost a lot" to "Gimmie, I want to play Bejeweled". (she now wants a PEG-TG50...)
The sad part of the story is that it came without an install CD, I thought to myself "I can download most of it from the Sony support sited". Not entrirely right, I've got Palm Desktop for Clie so I can now hotsync, which gives me all the basic functionality of a PDA. What's missing is all the fancy Sony multimedia stuff that lets me retrieve pictures (PictureGear Lite and SonicStage) & files (MS Import/Export) from internal memory (I've not yet got a Memory Stick, which I think will solve some problems once I figure out directory structure etc.).
Then I thought, "What about ordering a replacement from Sony?" Well Sony want three things, Proof of purchase from a retailer, the serial number of the unit, and $100+GST. Well I'm buggered on the first one, and thats fine it's my problem for buying second hand. As for $100, 'merkins get replacements for US$5 + shipping, bastards.
Anyhow, end of the story, though does anyone out there have a broken Sony Clie PEG-NX70V and want to sell me their old install CD?
Oh, I'm also interested in other accessories as it also came without a remote control wand.
