Hi Guys,

Work has just got me a Blackberry 8900, they were cheap and obviously not worried about waranty so got one through trademe.
It is an import model, and when I boot it up comes up with a Cincinnati Bell logo, it is currently running 4.6 firmware, but it looks like 5 is out in a few places.

Im assuming this phone will have been unlocked. Just wanting to know if a firmware upgrade will relock the phone, or any other things I should be looking out for.

Nope, it wont. Head over to crackberry.com and check out there BB8900 forum, it should help you out...

BlackBerry now has a software update service via the Internet. All you need is a PC with Internet access and a USB cable to connect your BB to the PC. All instructions are here.

Region limited, and wont install leaks etc.. In saying that I'm using the official Oz .451 for Storm...

No, its available for NZ devices. Vodafone support this service for their devices and release their official firmware on their own website as well as via this service. The service is foolproof, it will detect device type and carrier id, then show available upgrades that has been approved and supported by the carrier. If the carrier doesn't support this service then it will say so.
