Hi

I am thinking of getting the Nokia 3710..

Do you know if this phone will charge when connected to your computer via USB..

Thank you..

P.S.
Do Nokia phones as a rule charge via USB connected to a computer..

Thank You..

Not many charge via USB direct I have seen USB cables with the 2mm plug coming off them look like crap though

It seems to vary between USB cables. I have two. The longer one will charge the phone and the smaller one won't. This is on a Nokia 6234 and E72. Go figure!

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

My Nokia 5800 XM charges off some USB outlets and not others. It seems that whether or not a phone charges off USB is really quite a flakey thing - appears to depend on the configuratuion of the USB outlet and/or the cable. (I'm talking about cables that have a USB plug at one end and the Nokia 2mm charger plug at the other - not charging via the mini-USB socket on the phone - some Nokias don't charge via the mini-USB socket).

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I bought a usb cable off TradeMe that has the 2mm plug. It charges from usb but is faster with a usb charger adaptor.
Also when the usb plug is connected to the phone as well as the 2mm plug it stops charging. I have a 6121
