Guys
Have had blackberry company phone for last few years and currently have a blackberry bold. We are on Vodafone and I just assumed these devices were SLOW to download, even with 3g.
Everything from stuff.co.nz to google searches, things seem to take an age, with lots of messages along the bottom such as requesting..., running script etc. Just tried to open stuff webpage and the blue progress bar along the bottom took best part of 3 minutes to complete. Then about another 2 minutes+ of loading date and running/requesting scripts before the webpage displays. Its currently still loading around 6 minutes later.
I thought it was the norm with mobile devices until I saw my colleagues (personal and also on Vodafone) iphone download the page in around 20 seconds.
Just tried shazzam which I downloaded last night and whilst my blackberry is still 'sending' the information her iphone has completed it and is displaying the track and album. Shazzam generally takes around 2 to 3 minutes to work on the bberry and around 20 seconds on the iphone.
Our IT support function is offshore in India and they connected me to the Vodafone helpdesk who were as much help as a chocolate fireguard. She worked through a number of issues from removing the battery to " you don't have a data plan " to, "you are using it in city centres and airports which is where most users will be accessing data so speeds are slow"...She spoke to the 'specialist" team but they seemed more interested in fobbing her off with nothing helpful.
Any clues as to why the bberry on Vodafone is mega slow compared to an Iphone - I am thinking its how the business phones have been set up but thats as far as I got.
We are currently looking across alternative providers so wondered if this could make a difference ?
Thanks for any input.
