I'm an idiot and was not paying attention when something came up to be synchronized yesterday (Excuses: I was in middle of moving my office, movers were asking questions, I was on the phone to my wife as I clicked the accept button, sun was in my eyes, etc.).

After whatever it was downloaded, my phone says my memory is critically low and I should use File Manager to delete or move files. Problem is, I don't know what I downloaded, so I don't know what files to delete/move. I think it was related to Windows Media Player, but I am not sure. I have looked for "extra" files, but cannot see anything. I have no idea what to do now.

Welcome to Geekzone... Do you use Internet Explorer Mobile a lot? It might have just used a lot of memory for caching files. Open Internet Explorer on your Pocket PC, tap on Tools | Options | Memory and then tap the [Delete Files] button. I may take sometime, don't worry. Make sure you tap on the screen from time to time so that the Pocket PC doesn't "sleep".

Now tap [Ok] to close the Options, and tap Start | Settings | System | Memory. How much free Storage and how much free Program memory do you have there?

After doing the things you suggested, I have 17.79 MB free out of a total program memory of 49.42.

I have determined that the thing I clicked yesterday was Windows Media Player sync, because it came up again today. I have looked in the library for music or videos, but do not find any, so I cannot figure out what was downloaded.

Ok, in this case you have to look at the Storage memory, not program. You can browse the contents of your Pocket PC's memory by opening File Explorer on your PC while the Pocket PC is connected, and then you will see "Mobile Device" in the left panel. Just browse like you'd do on any disk.

You will see My Documents and possibly find the media files there...

There is a file, 1-nature_15fps.mp4, but that is pretty large (207 KB), that I cannot delete because it says there is a sharing violation, although I do not have it open anywhere. But that is the only one I see that is unusual.

Hmmm.. 207KBytes is not large enough (we would have to be talking about megabytes). The file is probably in use by Windows Media Player. You can do a soft reset and then try deleting the file again.

That allowed me to delete the file.

The memory message has not come up lately, so maybe the IE clearance helped. Will I need to do that on a regular basis? I moved the days to remember sites down from 30 to 10.

You obviously know a fair amount about the phone things. I am a mere user. Thank you very much for your help.

I just replaced my Treo 600, which died, with the XV6700. I have had nothing but problems with the sync ever since. I am on a small business network and got some of it worked out by my computer consultants, but some of it is over their head and I am doing research on the internet trying to figure it out. One thing they cannot figure out is why my Outlook Tasks do not sync when everything else does. Do you have any idea?

No problem, you are getting there... I have a TNZ Apache, which is exactly the same model as the XV6700 (except that is branded by Telecom New Zealand instead).

Yes, you probably should do that every few days, just to have some space available. The Internet Explorer cache can pile up very quickly.

Are you synchronising your Pocket PC with an Exchange Server? If yes, then you can only synchronise Tasks if the Exchange Server is running Service Pack 2. This is something for the IT guys to install on the server.

Thanks a lot. I will get them to check it.
