I have a need to regularly activate the offline mode on my Nokia 5800 XM.  Quite often when I select the Offline mode the I get a message on the screen saying "Unable to activate Offline mode".  The previously active mode reactivates and the then phone shuts down and restarts.

The problem seems less prevalent when you use the ON/OFF button to open the mode menu as opposed to tapping on the date/current mode label to access the mode menu

It is very frustrating having to wait for the phone to go thru the boot process before you can go about selecting the Offline mode again, and even then there is no guarantee it will work the next time.

Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to rectify the problem? I run pocket Pocketsensor and wonder if this might be a factor.  From reading some posts on the Nokia forum I see owners of other model Nokias (non touchscreen so no Pocketsensor) asking the same questio, this makes me think this could be a more general Nokia problem. Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried updating your phone with the latest firmware?

Or, try and do a hard reset and see if that fixes the software issue. Back-up all of your data first though.
