Ok i have used the "Serach" button and not found anything that will help me in what i am looking for. So i am sorry if i have missed some link somewhere.

First of I am greatful to join with Geekzone i have read around the fourms and it looks intresting.
I have recently gone into PDA, PDA phones ect, so now i turn to the masters as i am a noob (please be patieant with me).

My problem:
I know my XDA Executive comes with windows 2005 and what i require are things to download i.e codecs (divx), emulators, games, ect. Pretty much looking for tools and that sort of stuff. So i need names and places to get stuff or to be able to see what is avaliable for windows 2005 mobile. I relized alot of old stuff that i had might have worked but so far hardly anything works. If anyone can point me in the right direction or PM me with info or links this will be most greatful.

Thanks In Advance For Any Help Given..

Welcome to Geekzone... There's a website listing Windows Mobile 5.0 compatible software. I am not sure how up-to-date it is, since the last post is from September 2005.

For Divx, you won't find a codec, but you can download very good media player that will play mpeg files with this and other codecs: The Core Pocket Media Player.

You can also check our Geekzone Software Store. Almost all the newest software versions are compatible with wWindows Mobile 5.0.

Try running it on your PC first - it may have an installer. If a file/program is a .cab it can be generally installed direct from the device, if it is a .exe you probably need to run on a PC first.

Alittle off topic im looking at a 4GB SD card to buy, alot of the specifications say 2GB (none say anything about 4GB) does that mean i cant use a 4GB unless i upgrade windows or summat??

I am not sure about the limits for the SD card. You might have to ask O2 directly on what are the specifications for this...

Another question:
Anyone know how i can put my own rigtones into it because im not sure how to do that.
Secondly anyone know how i can make the phone silent/normal from the outside instead opening it and going through the menu's.

If this also requires software please say which one and where can it be found.

Thanks Again...

To add your own ringtones (wav and midi files work well), copy the file to \Windows\Rings using File Explorer. Then on your Pocket PC tap Start | Settings | Sounds and Notifications | Notifications. On the drop list find "Phone: Incoming Call" and find the new ringtone in the "Ringtone" drop list.

As for making it silent, you have to open it, and then simply tap on the Speaker icon in the top bar. You will see a slider with volume and an option to turn sound on/off (or vibrate mode).

Sorry to bother again is it not possiable to use ringtone directly off the SD card as it will take up space on the device itself.

I think it will only work with wav and midi - haven't tested with mp3 myself, so any other experience reports are welcome.

As for storage, you will have to use the main memory, but if store most of your programs in the SD card then you should be ok for main storage.

Ok i manage to get some programme called electric pocket ringo ringer, theis does the job really good. However this phone is slow so it takes it time to play whichever music file you have.

My problem now is im looking for a SD card to buy but i cant find anywhere even on o2 website or orange's, where you are able to use a 4BG sd card. Please can someone confirm this as i really dont want to buy a 4GB card and only to find out it does not work.
