Welcome to Geekzone... The most important thing is "when connected, can you access the network and the Internet?"

The IP address reported when not connected is not important. And if you connect to the same access point, the DHCP server will tend to assign the same IP address every time, depending on its configuration. So, unless your Pocket PC gets the same IP address in another access point (and it's not manually configured) then it's normal.

Ok, let's try to understand what you are doing...

a) You are using a PC with a wireless network card and you want to connect your Pocket PC to it

or

b) You have a wireless access point and you want to connect your Pocket PC to and then access the PC?

You will need to give your k-jam an ip address in the same range that the ip on your laptop is.

if you can tell me the ip and subnet mask on the laptop that would help.

a ip of 169.254.36.107 is an address that is given to an adaptor that is set for dhcp but has now dhcp server.

The other thing you could do is turn on internet connection sharing which would allow the notebook to hand out dhcp addresses

This is how i have configure!!
The ip of my notebook is 169.254.134.55, and on the wireless notebook defenicions the ip is auto, on the ppc, i created
a ad-hoc
connects to: the internet,
network key: Open, Wep, and use the ip fix onde the ppc: 169.254.134.56, mask 255.255.0.0, and even with this the ip is 169.254.36.107 the ppc does not use the ip 169.254.134.56!!!!

you cant use a 169 address for anything.

set the ip on the laptop to 192.168.1.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

set the ip on the ppc to 192.168.1.3 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

this should allow you to connect to the laptop but it will not allow you to connect to the internet thruogh the laptop for that you need to turn on internet connection sharing and set the ppc to use dhcp.
