I bought MS Pocket PC 2003 operating system the other day and did the upgrade from 2002 to 2003 with my iPAQ 5450.

The new 2003 OS was much better in many ways and is more stable however I've noticed a problem in PASSWORD prompting. I've put the time as 1 hour before PASSWORD should be prompted. It seems that this time constraining doesn't work at all!!!!

Even though I've put it as 1 hour ... the IPAQ will prompt me for password even though it has not remained swithched off for more than 1 hour. Sometimes it will even prompt me for password even though it has only been switched off for 2 or 3 minutes!!! The time is incosistent.

IS ANYBODY EXPERIENCING THIS AS WELL?? IF YOU ARE HOW DO WE FIX IT? AND HAS THERE BEEN A FIX RELEASED BY HP??

thanx in advance,
nic

I get too! I have heard of many problems with WM2003 on a iPAQ5450 on the HP forums (mainly the alarms etc), but not this one - let me know if you hear anything.

Hmm..you got a password on a 5450 - with biometric logon?? Why not use it (biometric) as an advantage?

I have set mine to 1 min and always use the biometric... then I stay out of trouble..you always got your finger handy when you have your 5450 in your hand! :-)

Thanks - I did have both - PIN and finger print, but it asks regardless.

I normally set to a couple of hours, so you could work with during the day, but needed to do it at least once day.

You tried it for longer to see if yours does it too?

Try to set it without the PIN for a few days.. then..IF needed go back to PIN and Biometric. If you realy need the PIN... noone has your finger anyway... hopefully! :-)
I have not tried it for longer...sorry.. but I can do that and post it here if same thing happens to me. OK?

I'm finding this problem as well on my 5450 upgraded to WM2003. I have tried Pin, Bio and both; no matter what I select as a time the prompt appears pretty much every time I turn my IPAQ on.

Even with the biometric scanning it is a real pain to have to scan every time I turn on my IPAQ.

Seems like loads of people are having the problem but neither MS or HP are releasing a fix.

Very frustrating.

Any suggestions?

Although fixed in Wm2003 SE - HP have just released a patch for Wm2003 frst edition - seems to work a treadt!
