Hi

I got my HTC Trophy on Thursday, and have it on 2 Degrees... all working nicely.

However, the Maps application's functionality seems rather limited. I realise it says that features differ in different regions, but it seems pretty limited here in NZ.

I can't get directions, can't search for a location, can't update pins on the map. I can understand there's no traffic info.

Is it just me or is this standard for NZ? Does anybody know if there are plans to improve this? Seems pretty crappy for now.

Cheers...

Craig

Try setting the System Locale and Browser Locale to English (Unied States) and see how it goes.

Awesome - you're a legend Mauricio!

I suppose asking for distances in km instead of miles is asking too much... :)

This should be fixed in the January update which will also add copy n paste. Right now turn by turn navigation is only officially available in US on bing maps. MS is planning to go global in that update.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Interesting... I have made the same change but have no option to search, etc. If I hit the search icon I just get a Bing search page.

Did you do anything special?

If it is the same as the web version of Bing maps, to get kilometers, click on the car icon and there is a settings menu on the left, click that and one can select KM or Miles

I just did what you suggested - chagned the browser and region to English (US)

When I touch the search icon it takes me to a search box so I can search for an address. Though it assumes US so I had to qualify it wiht Auckland, NZ.

Are you using Zune to sync the device? If so, is your Zune/Windows Live Id linked to US or to New Zealand?

Yes, using Zune to sync, though I've not synched since I made the changes. I have a Windows Live ID which I imagine is a NZ one - I'd have to check, but I have no reason for it not to be NZ.

Ah, found it. Someone pointed out I have to tap the "Click here to accept changes" - I missed that line.

The GPS lock on this device is really fast, I'd say even faster than what I've seen in some Android devices...

Hi, I have the Trophy and my maps doesnt work.  I have tried setting locale and browser language etc all mentioned above to no avail.  When I select Maps, i get blank world map and message searching which goes on and on but no results.  Is there some setting to activate maps.  I have data and 3g turned on and wifi turned on as well. Thank You
