I just bought a Nokia E70 on Trademe and the charger that came with it is not a Nokia one.  It seems to work OK and I haven't been able to source a genuine Nokia one in New Zealand.

Do you think it's OK to use this charger, or should I get the proper Nokia one off Amazon?  Nokia Australia has  them in stock but won't ship to New Zealand.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.  :)

I should be fine, i used a third party charger with my N82 for two years on an almost daily basis and never had any problems.

There's a Nokia shop in Newmarket if you're in Auckland. I wouldn't bother though if it was me.

I rang Nokia today - they didn't mention a store in Newmarket.  They just told me the chargers that would be suitable for my phone.  ACP-12A seems to be the best one (as its plug is suitable for Australia and New Zealand).

Naturally they advised against using a third party one - but I guess that's only to be expected.

I may be able to get a scond hand one on Trademe, but there don't seem to be any new ones available here.  I'd just feel happier with a genuine Nokia one, but maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily.

Has anyone else any experience of third party chargers?

There's a Nokia Care Centre on Kyhber Pass Road that should be able to assist Chrissie.

If you do end up buying s third party charger, make sure it's from a reputable retailer so you have some recourse should anything go wrong with the charger.

Have a look through the box of phone chargers at your local Salvation Army or other charity shop. Usually 80% various Nokia @ $2 - $3ea.

Thanks everyone - I managed to get a phone number for the Care Centre in Khyber Pass Road and they are going to courier me the appropriate charger.  I was able to pay for it by credit card over the phone.  Good service!
