The configuration is correct. Just make sure in the Connection you have both Work and Internet set to My ISP.

Make sure your SIM works in another handset and also do a soft reset on the device

Please try something different: Tap Start | Settings | Connections | Connections | Advanced | Select Networks.

In this dialog both should be My ISP:

If you tap Edit you will see this:

Simply tap and hold and select Connect.

On your first post you say the APN is www.vodafone.co.nz, on the second you say www.vodafone.net.nz. Which is there now? The correct one is www.vodafone.net.nz

If you change both Internet and Work to be My ISP the connection will be automatic. After you connect try opening a web site on Internet Explorer. If it works then your problem with e-mail is another configuration problem.

First - I'm not familiar with this device, but I'll just ask the following question (just in case):

I see in your post that you're trying to dial www.vodafone.co.nz, whereas I would have expected to see the "Number to dial" to be "*99***1#"??

Can someone else tell me/us - Does this device translate www.vodafone.co.nz to "*99***1#"? (or whatever the appropriate number is to dial the profile with the www.vodafone.net.nz APN).

The configuration does not require the number. It is just the APN configuration on the device, unlike another device using it to dial (you don't enter the number on the device itself, be it a Pocket PC Phone Edition or a mobile phone - you only enter the number on a second device, i.e. a laptop for example).

The update will add some things, but it's not the fix for your problem. Your device just need the correct cofiguration.

You didn't reply my question:

On your first post you say the APN is www.vodafone.co.nz, on the second you say www.vodafone.net.nz. Which is there now? The correct one is www.vodafone.net.nz?

It really looks to me that if it was working before and stopped working it is because the configuration was changed. The fact it says "dialing vodafone.co.nz" sounds as it was changed in the wrong place.

If you install the new ROM you will need to create the configuration - I know because I did it last week. So, go ahead download it and then we willgive the instructions to create the configuration.

Also, the push e-mail (which is the main big feature in the new ROM) is only available if you have an Exchange Server with the appropriate software. If you are synchronising to your Outlook this feature is non-existant.

I have www.vodafone.net.nz  now...

It started working fine...so far..have to wait till after OS update.

I will need all those vodafone email settings.

I have the password for email...

I spent $150 USD buying a few tools, I will have to reinstall them after a Operating system upgrade I guess.

What do you use to PRINT, FAX wireless ?

Thx

Nice move!

Ok, for e-mail you can configure it to synchronise with your Microsoft Outlook, but this is only when your device is in the cradle.

If you want to check a POP3 or IMAP server on-line while away from your computer, then you have to create a new e-mail account on your device. To do this yo open the e-mail application, tap in the Tools | Accounts and follow from there.

Note that you must use the Vodafone SMTP server (smtp.vodafone.net.nz) as the outgoing server. You can use any POP3 server, except Xtra.

If you have an Xtra e-mail account you will need their "secure" access, which is not free. All other ISPs though will work fine with the standard POP3 configuration.

You are correct, you will have to reinstall the programs after the ROM update. You can do this directly from the ActiveSync Add/Remove option on your PC.

And you will have to manually create the connection - the easiest way is by going to the Connections, advanced and creating from there.

That's fine. If these are the server names you are using, just configure these in the Options pages.
