I regularly use the reminder function for such things as GST returns, and birthdays etc.

On my Palm TX I can set the reminder to alarm/trigger X number of hours/days before the due date and this setting can be applied to all future occurrences of that event.  In other words I can input an event that recurrs at regular intervals once, and the reminders will trigger at the same preset time every time that event occurs in the future.

How can I do this on my Nokia 5800?  I can set a reminder when I input an event but I have to reset the reminder for the next time that event occurs, it will not do it automatically. Is there another calandar app that I need or can it be done with the existing calendar?

I must admit Palm had things pretty well sorted in the personal organiser area with their software.  Their Palm Desktop leaves MS Outlook for dead.

How are you entering the reminders? If you are using Microsoft Outlook you sure can set repeating reminders and appointments in Outlook - there's a bit RECURRING button on the ribbon in Outlook 2007 and 2010, and menu options in Outlook from previous versions.

That works for providing a reminder on Outlook but it doesn't seem to transfer to the phone for some reason.

The alarm on the phone I have for one event in a few day time shows the alarm date as being 3 years ago, which is probably the date I originally entered the reminder for.  Outlook showed the reminder today for that event.

Also there is seems to be no way to make a recurring reminder when entering the event on the phone.

I Downloaded and installed software from http://www.smartphoneware.com/ called "best reminder" on my N85 which might do what you want another option is Handy software from Epoc or some name like that you might find it on Ovi site.
to the best of my knowledge Nokia's don't come with a decent reminder option.
worth a try
kind regards peter

I am very happy with Google Calendars experience on Android & OSX.

My reminders come in via SMS message which is handy (as well as on the desktop etc).

Thanks for the links and info.  I had seen the "handy calendar" and wondered if it might work, I had not been able to ascertain that it did what I wanted and didn't want to spend the money just on the off chance.

I'll check out the link on the other one as well.

Tony,

I saw a Google synch app which probably does what you are talking about.  I'm not sure I want an SMS alerting service, but more importantly I'm looking for something that not only reminds but the reminder stays in the calendar/task pages reminding you about the event until you cancel it.   Does the SMS system do that?

Thanks for the info.
