The Palm Treo 700p was announced some days ago, i had a look at the specs, seems basically the same hardware as the 650 but with a EVDO radio inside(im talking CDMA because GSM is much to expensive),  which doesnt warrent upgrade to me, and im very happy with my 650.  I know its going to take Months and Months before it gets to Telecom, but oh-well.  They have taken the SDIO wifi card support from the system, which is pointless, what else do you want to do with SDIO? nothing...but anyway..

What do you think?

They say if you have cellular data with its wider-coverage-than-wifi-can-ever-think-of-having, why bother with Wireless LAN support. This is of course valid in a country with unlimited day for a few bucks...

Here in old New Zealand the $49/1GB plans are limited to a few data card models (Telecom New Zealand) or attached to a contract (Vodafone New Zealand). Also those are limited offers, only valid until mid-2006 and lasting for 24 months only. After this, who knows?

If you really want WiFi, stick with your Treo 650 or get a Pocket PC Phone Edition...

The 650 can't take SDIO wifi cards either, it never has - you need to use the Enfora Wifi Sled to have Wifi Support, plus the 700p has more memory - 128mb in total, 60mb available to the user, plus it has an upgraded camera - now 1.3mp, not to mention the software upgrades. Don't get me wrong, I love the 650, but the 700 is a long awaited upgrade.

Just my two cents anyhow :-)

I bought a 1gb sd card straight after buying the treo, so memory isnt a worry, and yeah dont use wifi(but probably will oneday) so didnt realy know about the sdio, was just assuming.  i start work writing for a mobile phone review magazine in a couple months, that will give me a chance to use all the devices.
