I am looking at doing a hard reset as I am having loads of problems trying to install Adobe Reader to my Apache. Does anyone know how I can back up my Apache as I do not see any back up on teh device.

Appreciate your advise.

You don't need a backup - sort of...

If you are going to hard reset you don't want to restore applications and settings - because if anything is not working doing a restore could bring the problem back.

If you have documents in \My Documents it should be automatically copied to your PC, and all PIM data (contacts, calendar, tasks, notes) is also automatically copied to your PC or Exchange Server.

The whole idea is that a backup program, such as Sprite Backup, is ideal if you make a copy to a SD card, and if you are on the road on an emergency you can restore the backup without having to go back to the office or finding a PC with the original copies.

So, if your case is only standard files in \My Documents, PIM data and you are just going to reset your Apache, I wouldn't be bothered.

All I want to back up is my PIM (hwo do I back that up) and my connection settings . I want to blow away anything that has to do with Adobe and see if Adobe will than work. It works fine on other Apache's in the org and I seem to be th only one with problems.

if all your pim data was put on by synchronising, then its on your PC/server and doesnt need to be backed up - it will simply re-appear when you sync again after a reset.

You can write down your connection settings, then do your hard reset.

the key theme here is that you want a "clean install", not a restore backup of an install you already suspect to be broken in some way.

I have this very strange problem trying to install Adobe. I run the Adobe cab file which ask if I want to install the App to the device or on the storaga card. I choose Device and it than tries to install but after a while it comes back saying the installation was not succesful and I should try another location . I than choose the storage Card and it than just says Installation of Adobe was not succesful. Someone suggested I do a hard reset to clear everything and see if this will help.

Adobe Reader is a huge file and a huge install. You shouldn't install in the main memory, but on a miniSD card. That's because during the install you need space for the cab file and for the final installation - effectivelly you need 100% more space during install.

Also, if you run the installation from your PC then you don't need to manually copy cab files. Anyway, make sure you delete the cab file, and install from your PC (also because the install process create a special conduit that will "reflow" your PDF files during copy via ActiveSync).

If this doesn't work, then you can hard reset (running "Clear Storage") your Apache.
