I've got a minor annoyance with the power button on my 740... it often takes 3-4 presses to get the thing to turn off. I haven't really noticed a rhyme or reason to when it happens. Sometimes it will shut off on the first press, but often takes multiple presses.. Is this a known issue, or is there anyone else having the same problem?

Thanks!

I've have the same issue. I've found that pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds makes the screen dim, and then a second press shuts the unit off. Other times, I have to reset the unit. Don't know why this is happening.

Me three. I also have to press the power button a few times before it shuts off. I guess it's another in a laundry list of things wrong with the e740.

Is there a prog that will disable the other buttons from turning te unit on?

That would be nice. Have you had this problem - in the middle of the night, the unit turns on, and then you rbattery drains down and the unit goes back to factory default? Thank goodness for backups, cause I've lost data many times. And this is supposedly a post-recall unit. Have you heard anything about the e800/e805?

Regards,

Ben

I've heard about Pocket PC turning on at night and staying on draining batteries. One thing I know is that they'll stay on if connected to a Bluetooth AP, wi-fi AP or to a GPRS mobile via Bluetooth.

Sometimes if you have an e-mail account on your Pocket Outlook with the configuration set to check e-mails every so often it'll do as soon as a connection is detected - in effect keeping it alive.

Could be it? Just throwing some ideas...

Sometimes my Toshiba will pop on for no reason, but I have it set to turn off after 2 or 3 min. if not on AC power. Thank goodness for that!

I have the same issue. But, as someone else reported, my PPC tuns itself on amlost immediately after I try to turn it off. And the same thing happens after it goes into power svae mode: It goes out and comes on again. That of course drains the battery in a few hours... Anybody any idea regarding this? Since I read this now in several forums, it looks to my like a systematic issue (btw: upgrade to the new 623 rom version did not affect this behavior) Thanks for any help or feedback.

I've read articles in the past that said all Windows Ce devices turned on at midnight to reset their clocks, or something like that. The other issue is that if your device is hooked up to a computer at the time, it will stay on in "sync" until it runs out of gas, unless you have your activesync configured to terminate after sync. Does this explain some of the mysterious dead battery issues?
