Hi, I have created a pairing between my laptop and my 6600 phone successfully & created a serial connection between the 2 devices. However, I cant keep the devices connected to one another, on the laptop I get a connection failed message and on the phone I get cannot get connected. I am trying to set this up so that I can use the Nokia Datasuite to transfer all my contacts to my phone.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The error message is correct. You have to set the mRouter software to listen on the Bluetooth COM port defined as Local Service. When you try to connect to your mobile it will
accept the connection, immediately disconnect and "call back". This incoming
connection will be through the incoming (Local Service) COM port.

Have a look in our Bluetooth Guides for more instructions on how to do this. If after checking the correct COM port is in use by mRouter, read this thread about problems with firewalls.

Also, make sure the COM Port you need is not being used by other programs (like ActiveSync or Hotsync).

I cant hit the back button as when i get the error message stating it has closed the connection, it resets all the software & closes it & then restarts it. I cant get the software to keep the serial connection connected....after a few seconds it closes the connection automatically and resets the software..... I havent even gotten as far as using the nokia software. This is purely through the 1.4 Bluetooth software. I managed to get it to work once yesterday, but not doing anything different.

This is very irritating

seeno, it seem like it's a different problem. Are you trying to dial up from your computer using the Nokia 6600?

Jvenables, you say after a few seconds it closes the connection automatically and resets the software. Is this on the desktop? What software is this, the mRouter or Bluetooth?

It closes the bluetooth software completely and seems to close some of the tasks in the start bar

Jvenables, in this case I think it's a problem with the Windows setup. The description sounds like a fatal error during a program execution. Not much you can do. You can try removing the Bluetooth software and the Nokia PC Suite, rebooting between each. Then install the Bluetooth software first, reboot, make sure it works and pairs with your phone then install the Nokia PC Suite.

seeno, I see. This is the other way around then. The dial up is when your mobile phone connects and your computer uses the connection.

There are a few reason why this doesn't work. The main reason is that the built in applications don't use this connection. The mail program and browser don't recognise it. This happens with other Symbian phones too. You'll notice that Netfront will work. A RSS Feed reader I tested works well. But if you try to use the internal e-mail program nothing happens. Try Access Netfront and see if it works.

Also, make sure there is no personal firewall blocking communications.

seeno, can you confirm that your Nokia is connected to mRouter? Does the icon turn to this ?

If yes, are you able to open Nokia PC Suite and browse the contents of the phone?
