What the hell, sorry about that, I blame Opera ... now I'm using FF.

Anyway ..

I imported a Nokia 6630 when they first came out a few years back and last week I attempted to flash it to the most recent firmware by following the many BB5 flashing guides on the net. It wasn't succesful and now my wonderful 6630 is a brick, I have trie everything out there possible to try and get it working past the Nokia logo but it just flicks to a white screen after that.

Mobilefonerepair are unable to help me, although they didn't say why, so there goes that idea.

Does anyone know someone in NZ that has an MT-box flashing device or another similar thing that could help me out? It doesn't help with there being no Nokia service centres in NZ.

I won't be trying to flash my N80 now I fried my 6630 ..

Any advice would be appreciated, sorry about that screwed up first post.

MFR don't service imported handsets.

There are several flashers here on the forums that may come out of the woodwork. Im not sure exactly what kind of phones they do though.

I guess you have to decide whether getting a handset for cheaper and maybe sooner than it comes on the market here is worth the risk of no support/warranty/service

Another reason why I would avoid Imported phone unless I know I don't need the features... My mom is using Nokia 6060 which is just a basic flip phone and unique Asian-only silver/chrome colours. With simplified/traditional chinese input. She doesn't need SMS/MMS or whatever... and it's cheap and she likes it, although she doesn't use much of it at all. LOL.

Internet is my backyard...

Wow, you guys really do hate imported phones, which is odd .. and not the point - even if it was covered by an NZ warranty me attempting the flash the firmware would have made that warranty void anyway.

Its not a big deal to get my phone working, its only another spare, I have an N80 and an E70 anyway (WiFi is so great).

Just to note, all the phones I have owned (which are too many to bother listing) have all been imported and I have never had one fault with them up until I was messing around, warranty's don't bother me in the slightest.

If we could please keep this thread on track with reply's about firmware and flashing .. thats would be helpful :).

Where in NZ are you located? If you're in Auckland most of the Asian phone stores also do service work/reflashing. The guys next to Borders in Queen St (somebody else may be able to help with a name for their store) are apparently charge pretty reasonable prices.
